Perhaps, but Vortic Watch company has all that and still used influencer marketing to tap into new audiences for the fraction of the cost of traditional marketing options. What's for certain is that deep artisanal skills are as much in demand as always, if you give a twist to it. Watches - and marketing - remain timeless, each in different ways.

Becoming resilient company or individual is not optional, it is a survival instinct, yet, it takes some planning since we are not cavemen any more and haven't been used to it. Change is coming, in fact transformational change is already a new fact of life. In this new world of disruption any futurist, consultant, or adviser that can help us prepare is welcome in my book. Do we need new ABC's for this stuff? Sure. Awareness, Behavior Change and Culture Change are each needed. Even then, change will surprise us, just not that much.

Articulating the Future
Tuesday Mar 29, 2022
Tuesday Mar 29, 2022
In episode 134 of the Futurized podcast, the topic is: Articulating the Future. Our guest is Dave Ho, CTO and co-founder of York & Chapel, in discussion with Futurized host, Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau), futurist, author, investor, and serial entrepreneur. Futurized is a bi-weekly show, preparing YOU to think about how to deal with the next decade's disruption, so you can succeed and thrive no matter what happens. Futurized goes beneath the trends to track the underlying forces of disruption in tech, policy, business models, social dynamics and the environment. Futurized—conversations that matter.
In this conversation, they talk about marketing during the pandemic, using AR technology for marketing, and what will happen to customer choice values in the future.
Trond's takeaway:
Marketing is an ever evolving endeavor trying to respond to people's need to stand out. Technology is a big part of it, but emotions play a big role, too. Safety theater is part of marketing, but that doesn't mean it's all for show. As we continue to battle misinformation, marketing has a big role in mediating between objective truth and make believe. The Future of Melanoma Research
Tuesday Mar 22, 2022
Tuesday Mar 22, 2022
Professor David Fisher, chairman of the Department of Dermatology and director of the Melanoma Program at Massachusetts General Hospital (@massgenbrigham) is our guest on episode 138 of the Futurized podcast (@Futurized2). Futurized host Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau) interviews David. The topic is The Future of Melanoma Research.
In this conversation, they talk about the evolution of melanoma research and the advances made in recent years.
Trond's takeaway:
Melanoma is still a fear-inducing disease which has drastic consequences for the patients who contract it. On the other hand, the medical community has made significant advances against it in recent years, but it has taken time, a lot of attempts, and the battle is far from over. Immunotherapy has proven to be a game changer. But will all patients get this type of therapy in time and who will bear the costs?

Tuesday Mar 15, 2022
Tuesday Mar 15, 2022
Jennifer Byrne (@jenniferabyrne1), CEO of Arrived Workforce Connections, is futurist Trond Arne Undheim's (@trondau) guest in episode 111 of the Futurized (@Futurized2) podcast, the topic is: How to Demystify Technology. In this conversation, they talk about the future of work, the increasing globalization of the workforce, and discuss whether everybody needs to be an engineer to be good in technology and navigating a non-traditional career.
Futurized goes beneath the trends to track the underlying forces of disruption in tech, policy, business models, social dynamics and the environment.
Trond's Takeaway
My takeaway is that [the future of work still has some surprises in store, but one remaining challenge is to motivate young people to tackle the fact that career and work questions are hard to pin down. What to study? How to study? How to rest? How to succeed? How to make the most of technology, as it changes, and becomes more complex?]

Melanoma Awareness
Tuesday Mar 08, 2022
Tuesday Mar 08, 2022
In episode 149 of the Futurized podcast (@Futurized2), the topic is: Melanoma awareness. Our guest is Deb Girard, Executive Director, Impact Melanoma (@IMPACTMelanoma).
In this conversation with futurist Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau), they talk about the story of Impact Melanoma, what steps you can take at home matter the most to reducing melanoma risk at the individual level and what the verdict on melanoma will be 10 years from now?
Trond's takeaway
Melanoma, the most lethal skin cancer, is not going away, but we are learning more about how to avoid it, how to manage it, and how to one day, cure it through personalized treatments. In the meantime, melanoma awareness is where the game is at, and we can all do a bit to help raise awareness around us. You can personally help individuals in your surroundings reduce their exposure, discover a mole that needs to be checked out, or care for melanoma victims or affected family members. This one is personal to me, I know first hand how melanoma can kill. Trust me when I say, you want to avoid this fate for somebody you care about.

How Presidents Pitch the American Idea
Tuesday Mar 01, 2022
Tuesday Mar 01, 2022
Today, Jason Voiovich (@JasonTVoiovich), author of Marketer in Chief, guests the Futurized podcast (@futurized2).
In this conversation, they talk about [the role of marketing in presidential politics, more specifically how Voiovich has grouped presidents by the major challenges they faced in office. We discuss James Polk, Herbert Hoover, and Barack Obama and touch on the Biden presidency.

Trond's takeaway
Despite the common thinking that presidents have a lot of power, presidents only get one shot at presenting their key message, after that, they are always compared to that standard. Also, their presidency tends to be shaped by outside events as much as by their own ideas. This complicates marketing. James Polk, Herbert Hoover, and Barack Obama were three presidents presiding over especially disruptive periods in history and each had a tech relevance. What if I have to imagine what future presidents' (2024, 2028) marketing pitch might be? I can imagine something about Ending COVID-19, Global leadership to defend democracy, but more likely one of them will be about Event X, some previously unknown that they will have to focus on).

When will Conversational AI get Real?
Tuesday Feb 22, 2022
Tuesday Feb 22, 2022
In episode 140 of the Futurized podcast, the topic is: When will conversational AI get real? Our guest is Joe Bradley, Chief Scientist, LivePerson (@liveperson), in conversation with our host, futurist Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau).
In this conversation, we talk about what machines already do better than humans and muse on the timing of future progress.
If you're new to the show, seek particular topics, or you are looking for a great way to tell your friends about the show, which we always appreciate, we've got the episode categories. Those are at Futurized.org/episodes. They are collections of your favorite episodes organized by topic, such as Entrepreneurship, Trends, Emerging Tech, or The Future of Work. That'll help new listeners get a taste of everything that we do here, starting with a topic they are familiar with, or want to go deeper in.
Trond's takeaway: conversational AI is at its best when its used to remove cognitive load. It may take computers a while to become conversationalists, but they may soon save us time. They are already saving businesses time but the experience is not the same at the other end of the line. That will have to change. On the other hand, conversational AI is a natural UX, and is not costly to put in place. When conversational AI improves it will change things. Is that 5 years or 20 years from now?

Industrial Biomanufacturing
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Our guest today, is Moji Karimi, CEO & co-founder, Cemvita Factory. In episode 126 of the Futurized podcast (@futurized2), hosted by futurist Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau), the topic is: Industrial Biomanufacturing. In this conversation, they talk about the challenges of scaling up industrial biomanufacturing, operational challenges, the emerging business models, and the technical challenges, and the future outlook.
If you're new to the show, seek particular topics, or you are looking for a great way to tell your friends about the show, which we always appreciate, we've got the episode categories. That'll help new listeners get a taste of everything that we do here, starting with a topic they are familiar with, or want to go deeper in.
The host of this podcast, Trond Arne Undheim, Ph.D is the author of Health Tech: Rebooting Society's Software, Hardware and Mindset--published by Routledge in 2021, Future Tech: How to Capture Value from Disruptive industry Trends--published by Kogan Page in 2021, Pandemic Aftermath: how Coronavirus changes Global Society and Disruption Games: How to Thrive on Serial Failure (2020)--both published by Atmosphere Press in 2020, Leadership From Below: How the Internet Generation Redefines the Workplace by Lulu Press in 2008. For an overview, go to Trond's Books at Trondundheim.com/books
At this stage, Futurized is lucky enough to have several sponsors. To check them out, go to Sponsors | Futurized - thoughts on our emerging future.

Trond's takeaway
Industrializing microbes is both fascinating and scary. Can biology truly be put under human control to fix our energy challenges, reduce emissions, and put us towards the path of regenerative economic growth? Time will show, but startups such as Cemvita are making headway. There is no question of the need for industrial biomanufacturing as a novel approach. Surprisingly, what seems to be the biggest challenge isn't the deep science itself, but the operational challenges in scaling the technology properly so that the promising use cases can materialize in synch with market expectations.

Teen Entrepreneurship
Tuesday Feb 08, 2022
Tuesday Feb 08, 2022
Today, Anjalee Naranthiren, the 19-year-old speaker, founder and Program Director at Startup Dojo and host of the YoungPreneur podcast is our guest on the Futurized podcast (@futurized2). In this conversation, we talk about teen entrepreneurship, how to actually be one, and how to foster it in others, and how to facilitate their success.
Futurized goes beneath the trends to track the underlying forces of disruption in tech, policy, business models, social dynamics and the environment. I’m your host, Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau), futurist and author.
My takeaway is that with all the problems the world is facing, teen entrepreneurship is more important than ever. Inspiring others is important but providing advice is needed. Even though entrepreneurs are full of initiative it is important to realize that being entrepreneurial is not an innate skill, it can be learned, especially if you start early. How inspiring to see a teen entrepreneur mentor other teens, even as she herself is becoming a student.

Tech, Art and Transformation
Tuesday Feb 01, 2022
Tuesday Feb 01, 2022
Author Nathalie Nahai guests the Futurized podcast, hosted by futurist Trond Arne Undheim. In this conversation, they discuss her new book Business Unusual: Values, Uncertainty and the Psychology of Brand Resilience which is about consumer trends and digital interactions. They also get into whether art still has transformative powers.
Futurized goes beneath the trends to track the underlying forces of disruption in tech, policy, business models, social dynamics and the environment.
Trond's takeaway: Big tech and its products and solutions are so purpose-driven that it threatens to stifle our creativity. We need to consider the future of creative boredom to counter this effect. Reconnecting deeply with the natural world is a remedy. This takes effort, but if we want change, it cannot just be an individual strategy but must be a collective effort.

The Future of Content Creation
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Jesse Krieger, Chief Content Officer, PowerFan.io (@powerfanio) guests Futurized podcast, episode 142, hosted by futurist Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau). In this conversation, they talk about what content creation is, what's wrong with the business model, and how NFTs can fix it.
Powerfan.io has an exclusive offer for Futurized listeners: Click here to participate in the token giveaway. Get 100 PFAN Tokens and a chance to win 2,500!
Trond's takeaway
Content creation is important both as a creative and as a professional outlet. Whilst NFTs do provide great opportunities to experiment, they cannot replace building an audience in the first place, which means it is a great method for people with a pre-existing audience of some sort to try to get them hooked on your content and allow them to compensate you for it. Times are exciting, it's hard to know where this will shake down, but the internet, so far, for all its freedom of expression, has been tough for folks trying to monetize content.

How Executives Handle Crisis
Tuesday Dec 14, 2021
Tuesday Dec 14, 2021
In episode 129 of the podcast, the topic is How Executives Handle Crisis. Our guest is Stephynie Malik (@stephyniemalik), Host, Spin It podcast, Founder, Smalik Enterprises.
In this conversation, they talk about how Stephynie came to do what she does and her unique experience of serial crisis manager. What do you define as a business crisis? What are the strategies to use to best handle it? They discuss the intricate and unknown back stories that unfold in executive life and how to help resolve the problems that occur.

Trond's takeaway
When I first was confronted with Stephynie, I didn't know what to think. She seemed like a real version of the fictional fixer, Olivia Pope created by Shonda Rhimes for the political drama television series Scandal, only for executives not for politicians. As it turns out she is not far from that. I can only imagine the skills needed to deal with the crises that bring executives out of balance. What she leaves me with, and perhaps you as well, is a sense of calm in the midst of the storm. Wouldn't we all want to have a Stephynie to create that sense and capitalize on it to create a way to move on and ahead?

The Future of Policing
Tuesday Dec 07, 2021
Tuesday Dec 07, 2021
In episode 128 of the Futurized podcast, the topic is: The Future of Policing. Our guest is Rahul Sidhu, Co-Founder and CEO at SPIDR Tech.
In this conversation, they talk about police reform, law enforcement technology, politics, and how entrepreneurship fits into the public safety space.
Trond's takeaway:
My observation is that police reform is generally and nearly always a good idea, since any public institution that carries guns needs to be constantly scrutinized. The prospect of law enforcement technology somehow making society safer is a notion with mixed merit. Technology, as always, is a double edged sword. What we gain in efficiency of force, we might lose in the time needed to process what occurred. However, it seems prudent to invest in applications that lets the public and the police stay in constant dialogue to avoid one way communication. The future of law enforcement surely includes technology and will require close oversight both by the institutions themselves, by government, and by citizens. We are nowhere near a world with no need for police forces, but we all deserve a fair shake when we are confronted by it, whether for routine infractions or when causing events that threaten public safety. For that, technology will be involved and will increasingly become more sophisticated, although undoubtedly, at times, will be stuck in bureaucracy, for which we all need to practice our patience.

Investing in Sci-Tech Futures
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
In episode 145 of the Futurized podcast (@futurized2), the topic is: Investing in Sci-Tech Futures. Our guest is Shahin Farshchi (@Farshchi), Partner, Lux Capital.
In this conversation, they talk about investing in emerging science and technology ventures at the outermost edges of what is possible, what his thesis is on the future of autonomous vehicles + automation, space technology, etc., and how he arrives at that thesis.
Trond's takeaway
Investing in sci-tech futures will always be risky, exhilarating, and important. The impact of deep tech is never given, and even one wrong turn can be costly, both for VCs and for society. The future is also uncertain. Having said that, engaging with the future in this tangible way is the only way to explore what might be and what might become. As Shahin says, it takes unconventional investors to partner with iconoclastic founders.

Tuesday Nov 23, 2021
In episode 130 of the Futurized podcast (@futurized2), the topic is: Future Bestsellers. Our guest is Vikrant Shaurya (@VikrantShaurya), CEO & founder, BestsellingBook.com. Futurized is hosted by Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau), futurist, author, investor, and serial entrepreneur.
In this conversation, they talk about: Why do people write books these days? What does it do for you? What is authority? How to you make it work in a monetization strategy? What is a bestseller? We discuss Vikrant's framework to Produce, Publish and Profit.
Trond's takeaway:
Writing a bestselling book is every author's dream. I've written five and I am nowhere near a full understanding of what it takes. How can Vikrant claim to have discovered the formula? It's exciting to see outsider perspectives on publishing because this ancient business model is surely changing. So, it seems, the motivation to write a book shouldn't so much be to sell it in thousands of copies as much as it should be to use it to become an expert and establish your authority and then use that platform to make a living in other ways. Makes a lot of sense, and then perhaps, with a bit of effort and investment, there's a method to selling a bunch of books, too. Who knows what books will look like in the future and who will be writing and marketing them? Surely, the machines will help.

Monday Nov 15, 2021
Monday Nov 15, 2021
Lisa Bodell (@LisaBodell), futurist and CEO of FutureThink (@futurethinktank) is interviewed by Trond Arne Undheim (@trondau), futurist, author, investor, and serial entrepreneur in episode 135 of the Futurized podcast (@futurized2), the topic is Simple is the Future.
In this conversation, we talk about the productivity impact of killing bureaucracy, rules, and bad organizational habits and simplification strategies for corporations and their leaders-minimizing slides, meetings and emails to free up time.
Trond's takeaway is that to claim that the future will entail more simplicity than complexity is an unusual take. Nevertheless, there is an appeal here. Further complexity in some realms might necessitate simplicity in others. Regardless, simplicity is appealing and wonderful when it works.

Join me as I discuss the societal impact of deep tech such as AI, blockchain, IoT, nanotech, quantum, robotics, and synthetic biology, and tackle topics such as entrepreneurship, trends, or the future of work. On the show, I interview smart people with a soul: founders, authors, executives, and other thought leaders, or even the occasional celebrity.
Futurized is a bi-weekly show, preparing YOU to think about how to deal with the next decade's disruption, so you can succeed and thrive no matter what happens.
